Steel, Stone, Bronze:Statues and Monuments in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia The “LOVE” statue is one of the most iconic statues in Philadelphia, but what does it stand for? What is the history behind it? Why is it displayed in Philadelphia? I want to do an exhibit on the history of Philadelphia statues. These statues are more than just background objects for tourists; they are part of Philadelphia’s long art history. I want to break the statues down into the following sections: war, women, people of color, and culture. I want this exhibit to be a guide to understanding statues in Philadelphia, not viewing the statues as just tourist traps, but as historical monuments that tell a story of Philadelphia through visual history.
